Park & Recreation Department

The Park and Recreation Department offers a comprehensive and varied program of public recreation activities, services, and resources for residents. Programs are self-sustaining and offer an opportunity for quality use of leisure time in a productive and healthy manner. Recreation facilities include the Atkinson Pool, Fairbank Community Center, toddler playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball court, outdoor skating area (weather permitting), and fields for baseball, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, and soccer. Major recreation areas include Davis Field, Frank G. Feeley Field, and Haskell Recreation Area.

Waypoint Adventure Adaptive Day Hikes

The Waypoint Hiking program will enable participants with physical and developmental disabilities to enjoy the amazing surroundings of Massachusetts most beautiful woodlands.  This program will teach you about both low impact wilderness travel and the great outdoors. Participants will have a great time learning, getting some exercise, and socializing with peers. Sign up for one or both hikes.

HIKE 1:    Sat., Sept. 25 at Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge, Concord

HIKE 2:    Sat., Oct. 16 at Great Brook Farm, Sudbury

TIME:    10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

COST:  $44 per hike

AGE: Anyone 8 yrs +

Equipment Needed: Participants will need their own transportation to each site as well as their own adaptive equipment if needed.
