The town celebrated its' first-annual Sudbury Day. The festivities, funded by the Sudbury Cultural Council, were held from noon until 5:00 pm.
Sudbury Day Wows Crowds... Thousands of people gathered in the town center for the first ever Sudbury Day on Saturday, providing a thrilling start to a celebration that is expected to continue for the years to come. Aurna Pundit, one of the main organizers of the event, said that she has already received tremendous feedback from hundreds of people. “They said, ‘Thank you so much for this, for providing a place for this kind of community spirit,’” said Pundit a member of the Sudbury Cultural council and the director of the Sudbury preschool Aruna’s Place… Visitors to the day-long celebration enjoyed a variety of cultural entertainment on a main stage in front of Town Hall; a pie eating contest and train ride at a children’s pavilion…a performance by the Sudbury Savoyards and an interfaith choir proclamation at the Sudbury United Methodist Church; community displays at Heritage Park; tours of the historic Hosmer House and an extensive food court behind Town Hall… Sudbury Town Crier September 26, 2002
